So, every year I pick a pretty specific theme for my classroom, which I follow all year long. And, as I was explaining to a few of my 3rd graders today, no matter what the theme is, they always think next year's theme is way better...the grass is always greener, right? So...what would be your pick for a classroom theme, if the decision was yours to make? |

There will be NO spelling test next week due to the shortened week. We will start a new reading story and spelling list when we return from Easter break. (Therefore, I sent home no newsletter today, Friday March 18th.) Just keep practicing multiplication and remember to send in items for the Easter party! see post about Easter party here!
In anticipation of St. Patrick's day and the explosion of rainbow-themed decor out this week, I thought we'd have a little color wheel fun in Science. We started out in groups doing this activity that I found online: http://chasingcheerios.blogspot.com/2014/07/absorption-color-wheel-revisited.html But why does the water travel up the paper towel at all? And why do paper towels absorb liquid? Check out this quick video to help you understand. On Wednesday, March 23rd, we will be having an Easter party. If you would like to send in items for our classroom Easter baskets, you may start sending them in anytime. It does NOT have to be anything big (or edible) just any tiny items that will fit in a small, handmade basket.
We have 13 students—8 girls and 5 boys (items can be gender specific, but don’t have to be.) In the past I’ve had: pencils, erasers, notepads, bubbles, nail polish, bouncy balls, candy, stickers, silly putty, play-doh, bracelets, and such. You may choose NOT to send anything in at all. I have talked to the students that if they do bring in something, it should be neatly disguised in a plastic or paper bag, as we keep the items a surprise until they see them in their baskets! Also, we will be having our usual type of classroom party on that Wednesday. So if you wish to send in a special snack or treat for our Easter Party, you may! Thanks so much! tries tried trying
dries dried drying hurries hurried hurrying studies studied studying plays played playing Review Words: birthday someone Challenge Words: obeyed worrying We have a whole different type of "march Madness" going on in grade three--and it has nothing to do with basketball. We call it "Multiplication Madness." We have been working on our facts for weeks now and have started times tests. So far, we are doing pretty well, but they are getting harder...Keep practicing! It's book order time again! If you would like to place your order online, you may--not only is there nothing to send into school, but you are able to choose from all the books scholastic has available, rather than simply the fliers. Click the link below to check it out!
Orders are due Monday, March 14th. Nothing gets kids more excited than that first glimmer of spring. No snowpants, no boots--just pure, warm weather fun!
I am currently taking a class called, A Moving Child is a Learning Child. I saw this in my book and decided that "Playing out" sounds a whole lot better than "Working out" Just by allowing kids to react to their environment in their natural, physical way, both at school and at home, we are enforcing a God-Given "Wellness Program." Getting kids active is not the challenge...trust me...I have a much harder time getting them to sit still! :) So let them be kids!
"We are all born to be fit. But, unlike adults, kids don't work out. they Play out! For little ones, fitness should only be measured in giggles because playing naturally increases fitness. Just compare what you do at the gym to what a kid can fit into her every day and you might want to think about doing a few more reps." airplane daytime birthday
