The third grade room was blessed with the donation of a new smart board this year. Carol luther donated a smart board to our room in memory of her parents, Cletus and Anna Marie Schraufnagel.
So what do you do on a Smart Board? Well, many things! i can use it as a super, cool alternative for a chalkboard, and use different colors and shapes when teaching to the whole group. I can change the background to a piece of notebook or handwriting paper when I am modeling cursive or how to organize a math assignment.
We can use it to project our Reading stories or brain breaks like GoNoodle. But even more than all this are the capabilities it has to make lessons interactive. Here is an example of a math lesson we did to enforce place value.

Although we had the lights off during this class, The Smart Board is easily visible in a fully lit room. Sometimes Math is just more exciting when you can be in a darkened room! :)
Overall, we are so excited and so thankful to have this Smart Board in our room!
